A safe and effective method to neutralize and solidify hazardous caustic spills.? The kit contains basic personal safety wear, clean-up equipment and SorbaSet B™ Neutralizing caustic solidifier powder. Designed for a quick response to leaking or spill caustics, including water soluble organic and inorganic alkalis.

REGULATORY CONSIDERATION:
Personnel safety risks and environmental hazards are minimized. Handles "Foreseeable Emergency" during "uncontrolled release of hazardous material" (OSHA 1910.1200). Satisfies spill neutralizer requirements in OSHA 1926.441 & 1910.178("Facilities must have means to neutralize spilled caustics." EPA "New Technology and Spill Containment Programs" Federal Register Vol 55, No. 72/April 13, 1990; "Agents are available that solidify, neutralize, and suppress vaporization.")

Potassium Hydroxide, Sodium Hydroxide ,Ammonium Hydroxide and amines.

Solidify and neutralize caustics in one step - cleanup is fast and the resulting waste material is safe for disposal. For added convenience, the combined solidifier/neutralizer comes packaged in an easy-grip, easy-pour poly bottle. SorbaSet B™ is also available in pillow, sock, or bulk volume.

WHY SOLIDIFY HAZARDOUS WASTES?

Amendments to the RCRA regulations enacted on November 8, 1994 prohibit land burial of free liquids, and liquids absorbed on biodegradable substrates or materials that release liquids under pressure.

"I picked up my spills with an olefin or clay based absorbent. Isn't that good enough?"

If you pick up a spill of an acid or alkali with an absorbent you STILL have the same material; just as corrosive, toxic, and reactive as before. Absorbents DO NOT CHANGE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF A WASTE! So just sponging up a waste doesn't make it go away.

That absorbed waste MUST be neutralized and solidified before landfill burial! If you don't do it, your waste management company must. And they will CHARGE for this treatment, at quite a rate. If you just discard the absorbed waste, (DON'T) you are liable for 5 and 6 digit fines, even jail sentences!
